소통에 대한 갈망은 있지만 동시에 두려움으로 주춤하는 이들을 위한 책입니다. 오래된 저택 굴뚝에 홀로 갇힌 귀신은 사람들과 소통하지 못하고 고립됩니다. 어느 날 하늘에서 떨어진 비둘기 알을 품으며, 아기 비둘기 ‘비비’가 태어납니다. 비비와 함께한 시간은 굴뚝 귀신의 삶을 바꾸지만, 비비가 날 준비를 하자 굴뚝 귀신도 굴뚝 밖으로 나설 용기를 냅니다. 비비가 나는 연습을 돕는 과정에서 굴뚝 귀신은 세상과 다시 연결되고, 세상과 소통하는 새로운 시작을 맞이합니다. 작가는 석판화 기법으로 굴뚝의 어둠을 깊고 부드럽게 표현했으며, 이 작품은 2019년 BIB 한국 후보작으로 선정되었습니다.
A book for those who yearn to connect, but find themselves holding back in fear. A chimney phantom, trapped alone in an old house, grows isolated without contact with people.
One day, a pigeon’s egg falls from the sky, and the phantom carefully nurtures it until a baby pigeon named Bibi hatches.
Time with Bibi changes the phantom’s life, but as Bibi prepares to fly, the phantom finds the courage to leave the chimney. Helping Bibi practice flying, the phantom reconnects with the world and embraces a new beginning.
The artist used lithography to softly and deeply express the darkness of the chimney, and this work was selected as a 2019 BIB Korea nominee.
