얼굴에 파란 점을 가지고 태어난 아이 이안은 자라면서 자신이 부모님과 친구들과 다르다는 사실을 알게 됩니다. 그런 이안에게 엄마는 “사람마다 각자 자신만의 색을 가지고 태어나는데, 그 색이 아주 강하면 눈에 보이는 거란다.”라고 말해줍니다. 하지만 이 말로 인해 ‘파란색’ 이 자신을 가두는 벽이 되버리고, 이안은 점점 ‘파랑’에만 집착하죠. 그러던 중 얼굴이 빨간 친구 롱이를 만나면서, 각기 다른 색을 가진 친구들 사이에서 어울리고 화합하는 법을 배우게 되면서 진짜 자신의 색을 찾아가게 됩니다. 2018년 IBBY 장애아동을 위한 좋은 책 한국 후보작으로 선정되었습니다.
Ian was born with a blue dot on his face. As he grows up, he begins to
notice that he is different from his parents and friends. One day, his mother gently tells him, "Everyone is born with their own special color.
If that color is especially strong, sometimes you can see it."
But those words, meant to comfort, become a wall that confines him.
Ian starts to believe that blue is the only thing that defines him— and he
becomes obsessed with it. Then he meets Longi, a friend with a red face. Through Longi and other friends with all kinds of colors, Ian learns how to connect, share, and live in harmony. And along the way, he begins to discover the color that truly belongs to him.
This book was selected as the Korean nominee for the 2018 IBBY Collection for Young People with Disabilities.
