In a deep forest by a quiet pond live two old friends — a white toad named Hayang and a red toad named Bbalgang — who couldn’t be more different. Outgoing Hayang enjoys spending time with many friends, while introverted Bbalgang prefers the solitude of their home.

One day, when Hayang invites a new friend over without Bbalgang’s consent, Bbalgang feels overwhelmed by jealousy and hurt. Tension builds between the two as they begin to argue more frequently, exchanging words that leave lasting wounds. Eventually, unable to control the storm of emotions, Bbalgang lashes out in anger and throws a stone at Hayang. When Hayang is injured and taken to the hospital, Bbalgang is consumed by guilt.
