제13회 자문밖문화축제의 일환으로 자문밖 아트레지던시 작가들의 그룹전, 퍼포먼스, 교육 프로그램 및 아티스트 토크가 개최됩니다. 이번 전시는 김다혜 PM과 레지던시 5기 강해성 작가가 공동 기획하였으며, 무용가 정한별, 사운드 아티스트 정의석 작가와의 협업(네트워킹) 결과물(대형작업)과 작가의 개인 작업(소형그림)을 함께 선보입니다.
*자문밖문화축제: 자하문 밖 일대(부암동, 홍지동, 신영동, 구기동, 평창동)를 아우르는 문화예술 커뮤니티 기반의 지역 예술축제입니다.
전시 서문 : 특별해야 했으나 아무 일도 일어나지 않았던 시간들. 헨리 다거(1892~1973)는 그 의 낡은 아파트에 많은 양의 그림과 소설을 남겼다. 그는 어떤 이웃이었을까? 한 이웃 에 증언에 따르면 그는 주로 침대에서 시간을 보냈고, 오래된 종이 더미를 쌓아두고 지냈으며, 그래서인지 그 모든 것을 신경 쓰고 지내지는 못했다고 한다. 레지던시라는 장소는 거주하기와 창작하기가 뒤섞인 기묘한 공간이다. 우리는 다거가 그랬듯 작업 과 이야기와 삶의 흔적을 남겨둘 것이다. 이번 자문밖레지던시 5기 입주작가들은 어 떤 이웃이었으며 무엇을 남겨두었을까? 이번 자문밖아트레지던시의 축제 프로그램은 홀리데이를 빗겨난 보통날의 선셋을 주제로 한다. 9월, 오후 6시 36분쯤에 예정된 노을은 입주작가들의 기대와 흔적이 모여 구성한 긴 템포의 서사를 알릴 것이고, 그렇게 포도주가 엎질러 질 것이다. As part of the 13th Jabunbak Cultural Festival, the Jabunbak Art Residency presents a group exhibition featuring performances, educational programs, and artist talks. Curated by PM Dahye Kim and 5th-cohort artist Haeseong Kang, the exhibition showcases collaborative networking projects with dancer Hanbyul Jung and sound artist Euiseok Jeong, alongside the artists' individual works.
*The Jabunbak Cultural Festival is a community-based regional arts festival encompassing the areas outside Jahamun Gate (Buam-dong, Hongji-dong, Sinyeong-dong, Gugi-dong, and Pyeongchang-dong).
Exhibition Foreword
Times that should have been special, yet where nothing seemed to happen. Henry Darger (1892–1973) left behind a vast archive of paintings and manuscripts in his worn-out apartment. What kind of neighbor was he? According to one account, he spent most of his time in bed amidst piles of old paper, perhaps unable to keep everything under his care.
An art residency is a peculiar space where ‘dwelling’ and ‘creating’ intertwine. Like Darger, we leave behind traces of our work, stories, and lives. What kind of neighbors were the 5th-cohort artists of the Jabunbak Art Residency, and what have they left behind?
This year’s festival program is themed "Sunset on an Ordinary Day," drifting away from the concept of a 'holiday.' The sunset scheduled for around 6:36 PM in September will signal a long-tempo narrative woven from the expectations and footprints of the residents. And thus, the wine shall be spilled.
