작가의 첫 그림책인 『그림자 너머』는, 이성과 감정이 분리되어 혼란을 겪는 현대인의 내면을 시각적으로 표현한 작품입니다. 푸른 머리만 남은 인물이 자신의 그림자속으로 들어가는 여정을 통해, 잊고 지낸 감정과 감각, 그리고 온전한 자아(몸통)와 다시 연결되고자 하는 내면의 여정을 그렸습니다. 이 작품은 2014년 볼로냐 국제아동도서전 ‘올해의 일러스트레이터’에 선정되었습니다.
Soyung LEE’s first picture book, Beyond the Shadow, visually
portrays the inner confusion of modern individuals whose reason and
emotion have become disconnected. It follows a blue-headed figure
on an inner journey into their own shadow, seeking to reconnect
with forgotten feelings, senses, and a whole self — the body. The
book was selected as one of the Illustrators of the Year at the 2014
Bologna Children's Book Fair.
